About
Uptime4Win is a really simple Win32 application,
that displays your machines uptime and is written in
C.
This application brings you really nothing new, the
'uptime' command is a standart component on *nix systems
since ages,
but today (10/24/03) i was just looking for some Windows
application that is not text based but doin exactly
the same job.
I penetrated google with a lot of input without any
good results, all that i've found was a text based precompiled
binary
for Windows systems that even didn't work the way i
expected. I wondered that nobody else had the idea or
motivation
to write a little w32 uptime app... maybe i just was
to lame to search for the right stuff or ppl are really
uninterested in this.
Whatever, i was just unable to find what i searched
for and cuz it was no hard, time intensive job i wrote
it in a simple way
for myself.
History

Version 0.1 is born and i don't have any great ideas
for updates at the moment...
So if you got any comments or suggestions, just mail
me.

wow, just one day later and there is really a 0.2 release,
amazing isn't it? :)
changes:
- new main window
- changed icon colors
- seperate live counter window
- changed live counting update rate for a more accurate
refreshing
- updated some other stuff
so, nothing really important at all but for me it looks
and works a little bit better now.
10/26/03
so, here we go with 0.3 beta.
changes:
- new counter features (refresh, realtime count)
- new (more linux like) counter display style
- updated icon
- displaying netbios name at main title bar.
Installation & Usage
Well, at the moment there is no installshield
or something, and i think there is no real
need for that. Just download the executable below, copy
it to a folder of your choice,
and if you like it you may put it in your startup or
something :)
Then simply execute the 'Uptime4Win.exe' binary and
a little icon appears in your systems icon tray.
Everytime you'll move the mouse cursor over the tray
icon you will see a tip including the current uptime.
When you click on the icon by using left or right mouse
button the main window appears. At the options
menu you can minimize it back to the tray or launch
the live counter window and start/stop auto refreshing,
you can also mark the uptime displayed in the live counter
window and copy/paste it to show it other ppl or do
whatever you like with it.
here some screenshots of what it looks like:
